FINN HARPS HAVE BEEN handed a massive boost for the 2016 season with the news that defender Damien McNulty has signed a new one-year contract at Finn Park.
McNulty has been one of the most consistent performers in his three seasons at Harps.
Comfortable at centre-back or at right-back, McNulty is a teak-tough player whose heart-on-the-sleve style has endeared him to the Finn Park faithful.
McNulty had been courted by Irish League outfit Coleraine – from whom he signed for Harps in 2013 – while there had also been whispers of interest from Derry City.
However, McNulty has agreed to stay in Ballybofey and the Creggan man’s signature certainly represents one of the most important pieces of business conducted by Harps manager Ollie Horgan so far.
Harps begin their 2016 season with a home derby against Derry City on Friday, March 4.
“The fixture list certainly whets the appetite,” McNulty – who has 74 appearances for the club under his belt – said after penning a new deal.
“Every player wants to play against the top teams in the country and I will do everything I can to play my part in what will be a very exciting time for everyone associated with Finn Harps.
“I would like to think I have built a great relationship with the supporters, and if everyone sticks together through what will be a huge challenge, I think we can hold our own.”
Absolutely buzzing to have resigned with Finn Harps for another big year ahead in the Premier Division.. @FinnHarpsFC Roll on March 4th ⚪️?

McNulty’s signature brings to 12 the number of players on the books for 2016, including new signings Ryan McConnell and Ryan Curran.
“Like everyone at the club he is keen to prove he has what it takes to compete at the top level but realises it will be a big step up from the First Division,” Horgan said.
“We are working behind the scenes and hope to announce further signings very shortly.”
