BARRY MCNAMEE CELEBRATED his new Derry City contract with a goal tonight in a 4-0 win over Longford Town at the Brandywell.
It was confirmed this week that Ramelton man McNamee had penned a new deal at the Candystripes, committing to the Foyleside club until the end of the 2017 season.
The 24-year-old made his City debut back in 2012 and has played his way into the first XI, now rated as one of the top players in the squad.
McNamee bagged the third goal tonight as Kenny Shiels’ team swept aside basement club Longford.
Aaron McEneff fired in a penalty just before half-time and Austrian Lukas Schubert tucked home the second.
McNamee finished from close range and Rory Patterson – who missed a 72nd minute penalty – completed the rout with seven minutes left on the watch. Longford had Kevin O’Connor sent off in the first half.
