SHANIA McMonagle’s free kick helped to earn the Donegal Women’s League a superb away draw at Shamrock Rovers in the U17 WNL yesterday.

In a very warm evening in Roadstone Academy the Donegal girls were under pressure from the start as Shamrock Rovers tried to break down the reliant defensive block of Donegal.
In the 15th minute Keri Loughrey found Emma Doherty but her short was just wide of the post.
Soon after Jamie Thompson linked up with Vicki Gotczyca, but Donegal’s Darcey Kelly came across to block.
Donegal started the second half much bright and in the 50th minute, McMonagle’s 30-yard free kick hit the back of the net.
Orlaith O’Mahony and Anna Dignam combined down the right with Leah McLoughlin getting her fingers to Anna’s shot but unable to keep it out of the net to draw Rovers level.
McLoughlin did well to save from Gorczyca before Donegal attacker Emma Doherty hit the crossbar with an excellent 25-yard effort.
Jodie Loughrey had a good effort saved by the Sham’s keeper and, with seconds, remaining Donegal looked to Doherty for the last minute winner, but her effort went wide of the post.
