Brett McGinty moved into the Ulster Elite welterweight final last night as he overcame Nathan Watson in Belfast.
At the Dockers Club, the powerful Oakleaf ABC man defeated Watson, from the Saints club in Belfast, to advance to a meeting with former Commonwealth Youth Games colleague Aidan Walsh.
The St Johnston man was well in command of the bout when Watson retired on the stool at the end of the second round.
The towel came in before Watson could answer the bell for the start of the third round.
The Ulster Elite finals take place on Friday night at the Ulster Hall and sparks are guaranteed in what should be an all-action welterweight decider.
A place at next year’s Commonwealth Games in Australia is up for grabs.
McGinty and Walsh both went to the 2015 Commonwealth Youths in Samoa, where McGinty won a silver medal.
