McGinty walked on air into the final after putting European champions Jordan Myers and Michael Nevin to the sword.

McGinty wasted no time and the fight was stopped with Meredith unable to take any more punishment.
It was evident from early on that McGinty would be the victor in a lopsided welterweight final.
His final win came after he overcame old rival Nevin, a three-time European gold medallist, in last night’s semi-final and a week after he defeated Myers, another former European champion, in the quarter-finals.

A silver medallist at the 2015 Commonwealth Youth Games, McGinty returned to the National Stadium in some fashion for these Championships, making up for previous hurts on the South Circular Road’s canvas.
