Richard Tinney’s team defeated Rainey on penalty strokes after a tense scoreless draw.
Denise McElhinney was the star of the show for Raphoe, with three saves during the shoot-out.
McElhinney has been to Raphoe’s rescue before this season and the netminder performed more heroics in today’s clash at Rainey, her three saves firing her side into a play-off with Portadown to see who’ll play Premier League hockey next season.
Successful penalty strokes by Sabrina Barnett, Victoria Wray and Rachel Buchannan shot Raphoe to a win that leaves them one game from the top flight.
Raphoe’s ladies have already had their best ever season – this their first in Senior 1.
A recent 4-2 win over Ballyclare at home, on a day when Kimberley Porter scored a hat-trick, set up today’s crunch clash.
This was described by coach Tinney as ‘a Cup final’, but his team prevailed and now just stand one hurdle from taking the ultimate step.
