FORMER DONEGAL player Martin McElhinney is expected to miss St Michael’s crunch Donegal SFC clash with Gaoth Dobhair on Saturday.
McElhinney picked up an injury last Saturday night when St Michael’s overcame Ardara in a high-scoring tussle at Pearse Park.
The 2012 All-Ireland winner was replaced by Michael McGinley at half-time as St Michael’s won 4-18 to 2-10, having fallen 2-3 to 0-1 behind after only seven minutes.
The Creeslough man is believed to have underwent surgery on a facial injury earlier this week.
In March, McElhinney withdrew from the Donegal senior panel having first been called up by Brian McIver in 2007.
