ST COLUMBA’S Comphrensive School from Glenties won the McKeever Ulster Ladies Under-16 C final at Garvaghey on Tuesday.
St Columba’s Comprehensive, Glenties 10-7 Rathmore 3-8
The Glenties students – many of whom had lost the Ulster Under-20 final last week – were in stunning form with Danielle McDevitt scoring a brilliant 4-3 and Player of the Match Amy Boyle-Carr landing 3-2.
Laura Furey netted a brace and Caoimhe Brennan also hit the net for the winners.
Furey bagged the opening St Columba’s goal after taking a long ball into the mix before McDevitt added a quick-fire second.
Brennan got in for a third St Columba’s goal soon after and the signs were ominous at that stage for Rathmore.
Ellen Morgan’s free dropped into the net for Rathmore, but St Columba’s led by a handful of points at the break.
McDevitt netted again and Boyle-Carr was soon wheeling away after another goal.
McDevitt and Boyle scored another quick double as St Columba’s pressed hard and late in the game, McDevitt, Furey and Boyle-Carr all raised green flags.
Last week, St Columba’s were narrowly last by St Louis Kilkeel 4-5 to 3-6, but they hit back in style.
