There was disappointment for Illies Golden Gloves youngster Chloe McDaid in the European Women’s Youth and Junior Championships in Sofia.
The Illies bantamweight was making her international tournament debut, but in a quarter-final in the junior 54kgs, McDaid was beaten by Jekaterina Marchenko from Latvia.
McDaid conceded a unanimous decision, but the experience of being in Bulgaria is sure to stand to the Crana College student, who this year won her second Irish title.
On Tuesday, Carndonagh’s Labhaoise Clarke was beaten by Ulyana Yesipena from Belarus in a last 16 clash in the Youth 57kgs section.
