Dungloe boxer Matthew McCole is gearing up for a semi-final bout at the 2018 Haringey Box Cup in London this evening.
McCole (above, right) is part of the Irish Athletic Third-level Boxing Association (IATBA) squad that has travelled to north London to compete in the tournament at the Great Hall of Alexandra Palace.
McCole, competing at 64kgs, yesterday defeated Jordan McIntosh of Double Jab ABC in his quarter-final.
McCole, a student at Letterkenny Institute of Technology, took a unanimous decision verdict in the bout.
This evening, McCole faces Ewan Jenkins from Islington Boxing Club in his semi-final.
The Haringey Cup is celebrating it’s tenth anniversary year, having been established as one of Europe’s largest and most prestigious tournaments for club boxers.
Jim McCole of Dungloe ABC and Donegal native Paddy Gallagher are two of the Irish coaches for the tournament.
