MALIN HAD TOO much for the All-County Football League Division One champions St Michael’s at Connolly Park.

Malin started the better scored 1-4Â in the opening 10 minutes as Declan Walsh, Matthew Byrne and Brendan McLaughlin pointed before Christopher McLaughlin reacted to a bad kickout and burst forward beut his goal effort was saved before Byrne followed up to fist to the net.
St. Michael’s hit back with Peter Witherow but Paul McLaughlin responded with a fine long range score.
The Dunfanaghy side got back into the game however with a brace from Andrew Kelly and one from Liam Paul Ferry as Matty Byrne responded for Malin. Andrew Kelly chipped over from close range moments later.
Malin finished the half strongly as Anthony Kelly sent over a free before Byrne added three from play with Michael’s firing back when Andrew Kelly hit a free and a Martin McElhinney score from play left the half time score Malin 1-10 Michael’s 0-8.
St Michaelss had a great start to the second half with points from Lee Carr (two), Kealan McGee and Ciaran Gallagher helped them narrow the gap to three with Matty Byrne responding with another brace from play.
James Alcorn and Witherow combined to release Witherow whose shot was brilliantly parried over the bar by the ‘keeper. Matthew Byrne put a goal between the sides following good work by Dan McDaid before a great score from deep on the left by Brendan McLaughlin was cancelled out by Kealan McGee.
Stephen McLaughlin hit a point after he gathered the loose ball from Brendan McLaughlin’s effort off the Bar.Brian McLaughlin and Brendan McLaughlin exchanged long range efforts before Witherow and Brendan McLaughlin pointed again in a great open game of football.
Malin made sure of the win in the final five minutes as a Brendan McLaughlin sent over a free before the same player, Stephen McLaughlin and Matthew Byrne fired over from play.
