MARTIN MCHUGH has been named as the new manager of the Kilcar senior football team.
The appointment of McHugh was confirmed tonight at the club’s reconvened AGM.
McHugh takes over from Michael Molloy.
It is a blue chip appointment by the Towney club, who reached the semi-finals of the Donegal Senior Football Championship this year.
They endured a crushing defeat by Naomh Conaill in that semi.
As a player, McHugh won Dr Maguire in 1980, 1985, 1989 and 1993. He was player-manager in ’89.
McHugh managed Cavan to the Ulster SFC title in 1997 and has had two spells as manager of IT Sligo in the Sigerson Cup.
He is presently on the management team at Ulster University, Jordanstown.
Kilcar haven’t won Dr Maguire since 1993 when McHugh was a player
Declan Gallagher is the new Kilcar chairman, with Fiona McGinley as secretary and Louise Boyle as treasurer.
