MARK English has learned of the draw for his 800m heats at the Olympic Games.
The Finn Valley AC man goes in heat 5 at 2.22am Irish time on Saturday.
English will be out of lane 3 and in a heat that includes two runners – Jesus Lopez (Mexico) and Patryk Dobek (Poland) – with sub 1:43 person bests.
The first three in each heat plus the next six fastest will advance to Sunday’s semi-finals.
In June, English booked his place in Tokyo when he set a new Irish record of 1:45.71 at Castelló in Spain.
That race concluded a hectic period that saw English compete in five world class races in 16 days.
