MARK English has been confirmed for the Belfast Irish Milers Meet next month.
The Finn Valley AC man will line up against a world-class field at the Mary Peters Track on May 29.
The three-time European medalist has shown promise this year, already lowering his Irish indoor record to 1:46.10.
To automatically qualify for the Olympic Games, English needs to go 1:45.20.
English is also expected at other high-profile races in the coming weeks as his attempts to make it back to the Olympics step up.
English competed at the 2016 Games in Rio.
His outdoor best is 1:44.84, set in July 2013 in London, just two one hundredths of a second outside the Irish record of David Matthews, which has stood for 25 years.
“That’s always been an aim of mine,” he said in an interview with Donegal Daily/Donegal Sport Hub earlier this year.
“I know that I’m in the shape to break it. I just need to get into the right race in the next two or three months.”
The Belfast Irish Milers Meet, in association with Kinetica, is organised by Eamonn Christie.
