MARK ENGLISH EXPECTS to be back running in three weeks – at the latest – having trod in a pothole last month whilst training.
The Letterkenny native suffered a stress reaction in his fourth metatarsal in early March but has allayed fears the injury will force his withdrawal from the 800m in Rio this summer.
English has begun training on an anti-gravity treadmill at the Irish Institute of Sport having used a low-intensity untrasound that helps blood flow to the bone.
“The injury started with stepping in a pothole and I gave it a few days, but it just got worse after that,” English told The Irish Independent.
“I was in the boot until last week, but it’s been responding pretty well. I’ll be back running in the next three weeks, and hopefully much sooner than that,” he said.
