Malin were presented with a new strip before the game from John Byrne of John Byrne seafoods and it turned out to be a very lucky jersey as they ran up a big score as their recent good form continued.
Malin 7-13 Four Masters 1-07
The home side opened the scoring through Kieron McNicolas up the right, well set up by Paul and Michael McLaughlin. John Gerard McLaughlin then scored a peach of a score from out on the right.
They then hit three quick fire goals with Kieron McNicolas heavily involved, first he caught a poor kick out and hammered home, he then hit a great cross field ball for Brendan McLaughlin to score cutting in from the left. Stephen McLaughlin then got in on the act to rifle in from the edge of the square to put Malin 3-02 to no score on ten minutes.
Four Masters then got their first point from Thomas McGowan. Seamus Doherty then hit three quickfire scores from the same position – the first was a well worked team move across the field while the second was down to the hard work of Sean Byrne and the third after a well worked ball in from the sideline. Stephen McLaughlin got Malin’s third goal with five minutes remaining when Damien Harkin rose to the sky to catch and set Stephen McLaughlin away and the flying forward could not be caught as he rolled the ball past the keeper.
John Gerard McLaughlin got in on the goal scoring act after pouncing again after another kick out malfunction saw the Four Masters defence in trouble and after a one-two with Brendan McLaughlin he found the top corner as Malin hit as many points as goals on 5-05 all from play at this stage. There was still time from a good Paul McLaughlin score up the right while Four Masters hit a free from Thomas McGowan.
Seamus Doherty got Malin sixth goal in bizarre circumstances as the ball bounced and managed to deceive Jordan and slipped behind the line to leave the half time score Malin 6-06 Four Masters 0-02. Four Masters opened the scoring in the second half through with a short worked 45’ finished off by McGowan again.
This was soon cancelled out by a great score up the left by Brendan McLaughlin. Patrick Reid then replied for the Donegal town men with a well worked move with John Boyle  heavily involved. Brendan McLaughlin then scored three in a row with two from play in and a free in between.
McGowan swung over from thirty yards out and then freed from the ground as an understrength Four Masters battled on. Brendan McLaughlin freed from the ground after Oisin McGonagle’s shot was footblocked. Damien Harkin got in on the act with a rare point, from around the 45’ too.
Four Masters came Emmet Doogan back with a goal and a point, first Rahman Balagun ran through to scored a point and then the lively scored after a long ball in. Brendan McLaughlin replied with a goal of his own when he squeezed in another three pointer on 57 minutes while john Gerard McLaughlin hit a great point from out on the right touch line to sound the final whistle Malin 7-13 Four Masters 1-07.
