A HAT-TRICK of goals from Nathan Renihan helped Bailieboro Community School to a convincing victory over Magh Ene, Bundoran, this afternoon.
Magh Ene , Bundoran 0-7 Bailieboro Community School 3-14
The impressive Cavan side now have a semi-final spot in the (Ulster Under-18 Schools) Markey Cup to look forward to against another Donegal side, Abbey Vocational School, who saw off Ballybay Community College in Garvahey today.
On the other side of the draw, St Columba’s Comprehensive School from Glenties – following their win over Breifne College from Cavan – are due to face Fermanagh Schools, who overcame St Columba’s Stranloar.
Today at Bawnacre, Irvinestown, Bailieboro had much too much for the defeated Donegal finalists Magh Ene.
Playing against a stuff wind, Bailieboro were in a commanding position at the break, 1-6 to 0-4 up and saw out the contest impressively.
The sides were locked at 0-3 apiece on 13 minutes.
However, that was as good as it would get for Magh Ene as the first Bailieboro goal came on 23 minutes when Renihan shot under Conor Carty following a pass from Luke Gilsenan.
On 26 minutes, Callum Clarke, the Bailieboro corner-forward, cut on from the right and smashed a shot off the underside of the crossbar.
Magh End survived but that respite was only momentary, as five points down at half-time they had a mountain to climb in the second half. That margin mightn’t have been so severe as Dara Elliot got in on goal in injury time but his shot was blocked by the feet of Bailieboro goalkeeper Stephen O’Reilly.

Niall McCabe continued his accuracy as he kicked his fifth point soon after the restart and with the wind, Bailieboro pressed on.
Alongside Niall McCabe at midfield, Jordan McCabe was also dominant. Magh Ene passed up open a second goal chance on 42 minutes when Conor Colreavy shot wide when aiming for the near post.
Then, they were punished.
A 46th minute goal from Renihan put Bailieboro in complete control, 2-11 to 0-5 up. The wing-forward picked up the loose change after Carty in the Magh Ene goal had saved from Gilsenan after a flowing move down the right.
Then, five minutes later, Renihan was on hand to slot home his third goal after Jordan McCabe slapped a ball intelligently into his part.
