THE MAGEES from Raphoe take centre stage at the 2015 Carlton Irish Open at the Baldoyle Badminton Centre today.
The qualifying rounds took place yesterday with the first round underway today at the Dublin venue.
Double Olympian Chloe Magee, the third seed, takes on England’s Chloe Birch in the women’s singles.
This afternoon, Chloe teams up with her brother Sam for a mixed doubles match against English duo Matthew Nottingham and Emily Westwood. The Magee siblings are the number one seeds in the mixed doubles.
Brothes Sam and Joshua Magee meet Scotland’s Martin Campbell and Patrick Machugh in the men’s doubles.
Joshua Magee teams up with his niece, Rachael Darragh, to take on England’s Callum Hemming and Evie Burbridge in the mixed doubles.
Darragh, one of Irish badminton’s brightest prospects, will also be on court against the number two seed, Linda Zetchiri from Bulgaria, in the women’s singles. Yesterday, Darragh overcame Evie Burbridge 21-21 21-11.
Joshua Magee bowed out of the men’s singles when he was beaten by Ben Torrance of Scotland.
