Chloe and Sam Magee put up a strong performance against the World number 12 pair before bowing out of the Yonex All-England Open today.
Against Hong Kong due Chun Hei Lee and Hoi Wah Chau, the Raphoe siblings turned in a top display, but found the going just slightly too tough.
It was a big ask for the Magees against Lee and Chau, who are ranked 12th in the mixed doubles rankings.
The Magees are listed 33rd these days and are aiming to rise the ladder to make a tilt for the Tokho Olympics in three years’ time.
Today in Birmingam, Lee and Chau took the first set 21-16 but the Magees hit back and, after winning the second set 21-16, they forced a third set, but it was Lee and Chau who won it and the match with a 21-15 win.
