SAM AND CHLOE MAGEE went down to a narrow defeat in the quarter-finals of the Scottish Open Grand Prix at Glasgow’s Emirates Arena.
In June at the European Games in Baku, the Magees had to be content with bronze medals as losing semi-finalists, when they went down against the same French pair, Gaetan Mittelheisser and Audrey Fontaine, who ended up with silver.
The Raphoe siblings, who this afternoon won their quarter-final against English duo Matthew Nottingham and Emily Westwood, stormed to victory in the first set this evening in the mixed doubles, winning 21-7 before going down 21-11 in the second.
The third was on a knife-edge till the bitter end, only for Mittelheisser and Fontaine to come through 21-19.
