Chloe and Sam Magee have learned their first round opponents for the 2017 BMF World Championships of badminton, which begin in Glasgow on August 21.
The draws have been confirmed for the tournament, to be held at the 6,000 capacity Emirates Arena from August 21-27.
In the mixed doubles, Chloe and Sam will face American pair Yan Tuck Chan and Yuko Kawasaki.
The America duo are ranked 71st in the world, with the Raphoe siblings listed at 35th in the rankings. The winners of that first round tie would then plan top Japanese duo Yuta Watanabe and Arisa Higashino, who are 16th seeds.
The Magees have been in good form this year.
In May, they won a bronze medal at the European Championships, defeating Polish pair Robert Mateusiak and Nadiezda Zieba in Denmark, before missing out in the semi-final against Denmark’s Joachim Fischer Nielsen and Christinna Pedersen.
The following month, the Magees beat another Dutch pair, Robin Tabeling and Cheryl Seinen, 21-11 and 21-18 to win the Spanish Open.
Recently, they gave competed in the Canadian Open and the US Open as part of their preparations for the World Championships.
Meanwhile, in the men’s doubles, Joshua and Sam Magee will take on Bastian Kersaudy and Julien Maio from France in their opening round game.
