LETTERKENNY INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY’S men’s soccer side face a daunting task in the semi-finals of the CFAI Umbro Cup.
Shane Byrne’s team have been drawn to take on IT Carlow A away from home in the last four, while the other semi-final sees IT Carlow B face Institute of Technology Tallaght.
It’s a busy time for LyIT, who the week before last overcame IT Carlow B 5-4 to reach the final of the Colleges’ and Universities Football League Division 1. Dundalk IT provide the opposition this week.
Then, on Tuesday, goals from Paul McVeigh and his brother Brian sealed a 2-1 win over Dublin Institute of Technology in the Umbro Cup quarter-finals.
IT Carlow A would be considered the favourites for the competition and have Buncrana natives Kieran McDaid and Jonny Bonner of Wexford Youths in their ranks.
The ties will be played the week after next.
