FRANCIE Friel believes that Termon’s youth policy will pay dividends.
Friel has been true to his promise of giving youth its head at the Burn Road.
They survived in the senior championship via a play-off win last year and Friel has backed his young guns to develop.
A return of a draw and two wins – the most recent a 3-13 to 2-12 away win at Glenfin on Saturday – represents a fine start to the 2021 Division 2 campaign.
“These young boys have no fear in them,” Friel told Donegal Daily/Donegal Sport Hub.Â
“They just want to go out and express themselves.
“There is no panic in them. That crop of players is used winning. Since they have come into the set up, they have added to that group and they just want to give everything they have for the jersey.”
Daire McDaid, Barry McGeehin and Aaron Reid hit the goals on Saturday evening and Termon are in a good place as they prepare to host Naomh Columba this weekend.
Friel said: “Division 2 is a minefield and that’s still where it’s at. We want to try and keep out of the bottom four and anything else will be a bonus.
“We’re trying to keep them all involved in football. Hopefully it’ll pay off. Nothing is guaranteed, but we’re going the right way about it. The young fellas are adding value.”
