OLLIE HORGAN is leaving Finn Harps fans under no illusions about the stiff test his side face on Friday night at Tallaght.
Harps face Shamrock Rovers in the capital in the FAI Senior Cup and, in spite of a fine run of form, Horgan expects the toughest of all assignments this week,
“The difficulty with the Shamrock Rovers one is if we don’t prepare well we’ll be out the door by half-time,” Horgan told Donegal Daily/Donegal Sport Hub.
“It’s probably the worst draw we could have got, be it this or Dundalk away from home. If we don’t play well, we could be ran out the gate with the quality that they have. There is no point in me mincing my words because they’re a serious side.
“Football-wise, this is the worst draw we could have got, but financially we’re hoping they’ll have the biggest crowd on Friday night and, in some sort of a way, that’ll help us.”
Harps have won their last three Premier Division games and have kept five clean sheets in their last six outings.
However, Stephen Bradley’s Hoops will be a different proposition.
Horgan said: “We have to make it difficult for them. If we don’t, it will be a long night. They’ll beat better sides than us in Tallaght – and they have done.
“We have to hope that Shamrock Rovers don’t hit the heights that they can do.
“We’re hoping that we can stay in the game for a length of time but, realistically, it could be a bridge too far.”
