DECLAN BONNER has warned that Donegal supporters would underestimate Mayo at their peril.
A place in the All-Ireland semi-finals is at stake when Mayo welcome Donegal to Castlebar on Saturday evening.
McHale Park will be at capacity as the heavyweight rivals cross swords with their seasons on the line.
Some observers have begun to talk to Mayo’s demise, but Donegal boss Bonner doesn’t subscribe to that notion.
“Underestimate Mayo at your peril,” Bonner told Donegal Daily/Donegal Sport Hub.
“These guys are used to it and have been down this road for a number of years. They have contested All-Ireland finals and they”re battle hardened.
“It’s a huge match and we’ve been looking forward to it since the Kerry game. We’ve had a lot of preparation to get ready for the challenge of Mayo.”
Eoghan Ban Gallagher, an All-Star nominee in 2018, is out of the game due to a broken ankle, but in spite of concerns and speculation, Bonner believes he’ll be otherwise at full tilt for the game.
Bonner said: “The only sure thing is that Eoghan Ban is out. Others have small knocks, but they will be alright and we should have a full hand, bar Eoghan Ban.
“We’re up against a very experienced Mayo side. The team that will take to the field, I’ll have every faith that they’ll do a job for us.”
