Kevin Campbell’s mind casts back to last year when Setanta won their first Donegal senior hurling championship in nine years.
A comfortable win over St Eunan’s paved the way for glory again and bigger days lay in store as Campbell captained the Crossroads men to an Ulster Junior title later in 2017.
On Saturday, Setanta’s title is on the line when they square up to their old foes Burt, who have beaten them in nine finals in the last 25 years.
“The main thing is that we have the Cup back in the Cross again,” Campbell says.
“We saw last year what it did for hurling in the community. We need to replicate that again. The development of the club is our biggest aim.”
Setanta put St Eunan’s to the sword in the semi-final with Burt defeating Sean MacCumhaills.
Campbell is anticipating a tough afternoon on Saturday.
He said: “There’s room for improvement.
“We were very lucky to get across the semi-final. Burt-Setanta is the historical rivalry in Donegal. It’a a county final and on the day it’ll come down to a puck of a ball or two.
“There won’t be many points in the final, regardless of who wins it.”
