IT IS a mark of his belief in the strength of Finn Harps’ squad that Paul Hegarty feels the club underachieved in 2020.
Harps survived in the Premier Division once again with Ollie Horgan’s men avoiding the need for a play-off after a superb end to the campaign.
On Friday night, Harps rattled Premier Division champions Shamrock Rovers only to come out on the wrong end of a controversial FAI Cup quarter-final on a night when Rovers were awarded three penalties in a five-minute spell.
It was, though, a fine season, all told, by the Finn.
“I think we underachieved a bit for the players we had,” assistant manager Hegarty told Donegal Daily/Donegal Sport Hub.
“I think you saw that towards the end of the season when they got up and going. They’re a damned good bunch and there’s a lot of quality in that side.
“For me, it was a wee bit disappointing that we didn’t get going a wee bit earlier. They finished the season extremely strong.”
