It was a game of two halves for Finn Harps manager Ollie Horgan at the Carlisle Grounds last night as his side defeated Bray Wanderers.
Harps were 2-0 up and looking to be cruising at half-time, when goals by Eddie Dsane and new signing Mark Timlin had Harps in front.
Bray, who had ‘keeper Peter Cherrie sent off, pulled a goal back through Aaron Greene. Ibrahim Keita seemed to have wrapped things up for Harps, only for Ryan Brennan’s goal to give them a nervous wait to the finish.
“We played well in the first half,” Horgan said.
“The sending off, in a strange way, changed the course of the game. The last ten minutes were hard work.
“The second half performance would get us relegated, but the first half performance would be good enough to keep us up.
“Delighted – and we needed it, with teams around us also winning. If we didn’t get the result, we’d be right back in it. We’re in it anyway and it’ll be a battle.”
On new signing Timlin, Horgan added: “Mark has a bit of quality on the ball and he’s a good lad. We need Mark and we need everybody available. We had a number of choices to make. The fact that he was fresh was a pointer towards playing him.”
