Burt and Setanta have met in 20 Donegal SHC finals over the years – and the margins are wafer thin between them.
Burt have won eleven of the final meetings with Setanta victorious in the other nine clashes.
Burt veteran Mickey McCann – who happens also to be the Donegal senior hurling manager – knows all about the intensity of the rivalry.
Many of the participants in this Saturday’s latest instalment of this epic clash shared glory earlier in the summer when they won the Nicky Rackard Cup at Croke Park.
But that is very much parked this weekend.
“I’m a pure Burt man and the county is long gone on Saturday,” McCann says.
“It’s very personal and the rivalry is very close.
“There is a serious rivalry there. The county will all be put aside and it’ll be hell-for-leather.”
