Michael Naughton says that the Donegal senior ladies are ‘ready to win’ as they head for a historic Lidl Ladies National League Division 1 final against Cork on Sunday.
Donegal and Cork clash at Parnell Park with Donegal – last year’s Division 2 winners 0 appearing in the Division 1 decider for the first time.
Cork will be hoping to maintain their remarkable record in the Lidl National Football League as they aim to claim their fifth Division One title in a row and their 11th since 2004 on Sunday.
Donegal defeated Cork in a Division 1 game earlier in the campaign and Naughton’s side are high on confidence this week.
“This is a very special week for ladies football in Donegal,” Naughton said.
[adrotate group=”91″]“It’s the county’s first time in a Division 1 final and that’s a huge honour. It’s a huge occasion. They will have dreamed about this – and now they have this opportunity.”
With the likes of Geraldine McLaughlin, Yvonne McMonagle and Amber Barrett in attack, Donegal have a formidable unit and Naughton says the key to their success so far has been their strong squad.
He said: “They’re playing as a unit and playing for each other.
“We have told them for a long time that they could compete for the best and they’re putting in the work. Each one of them is pushing the other on. We have a very strong panel this year.”
