Cloughaneely earned their first league win of the season as Jason McGee earned nine points- seven from frees – and three from play by young corner-forward Cillian Gallagher.
Speaking to Donegal Daily/Donegal Sport Hub following the close encounter, Cloughaneely manager Michael Lynch said he was relieved to have seen his side get the victory following back-to-back defeats in Division 1.
“These are the games that you have to win when you are in our position at the bottom half of the table,” Lynch said.
“It was important for us at home, they are the games that you have to win,” he added.
“As I said to the boys during the week you wouldn’t be relegated if by getting beat today but if you did get relegated you would look at this and be disappointed.”
