MALACHY MCCANN hailed Buncrana’s determination to recover from the ‘black day’ of relegation to the Junior Championship.
McCann described Buncrana’s demotion to the Junior ranks last year, in a play-off loss to Downings, as one of his ‘darkest days’.

Buncrana, who have been many peoples’ favourites for the Junior honours this year, now face Letterkenny Gaels in Saturday’s Junior final in O’Donnell Park.
“It’s a massive day for the club,” McCann told Donegal Daily/Donegal Sport Hub.
“It’s great for the club. When finals come along, at underage, senior or whatever, the team is on a high and you can see the buzz around the town.”
Buncrana have welcomed the likes of Darach O’Connor and Ryan Bradley back into their dressing room since the summer’s end, while the addition of goalkeeper Harry Doherty has proved a more-than-useful acquisition for the Scarvey men.
Recent moods are a far cry from last year as McCann reflected.
He said: “That was one of my darkest days ever and I’m involved in football since I was 10 or 11. I never thought I’d see the day I was managing a team that dropped to junior football. It was a black day.
“But, the lads rallied, in fairness. They put the hard work in. They could have walked away and blamed this, that or the other, but they didn’t.”
