Maxi Curran says Donegal’s Ulster final hammering of Armagh will count for nothing when the teams meet in a TG4 All-Ireland SFC quarter-final on Saturday in Omagh.
Donegal cantered to a 9-21 to 4-8 Ulster final triumph, with Yvonne Bonner (4-6), Geraldine McLaughlin (3-3) and Eilish Ward (1-2) doing the damage for Donegal.
Wins over Tipperary and Kerry in the last two weeks meant Donegal topped their All-Ireland group and now meet Armagh once more.
“There’ll be a bit of talk and hype from people outside the camp about what we should do to Armagh,” Curran said.
“Any person involved in sport knows when you receive a hiding like that and get a chance to redeem yourself – which Armagh now have – you come out with all guns blazing.
“The last day, we went from two points up to eight points up in a matter of minutes and that changed the complexion of the game. It was a proper game for 40 minutes and it was a bit of a freak result.”
Donegal are sweating on the fitness of Karen Guthrie, their captain, who came off injured in last week’s win over Kerry in Roscommon.
