Marty Barrett could hardly have been prouder after Milford captured their first All-Ireland Intermediate Gaeltacht title.
A 3-9 to 1-8 win over Lettermore in Downings saw Milford take the prize with Lianne Boyce netting two goals and Megan Ferry bagging the other.
“I’m totally proud,” Barrett said.
“It was a tough battle and we have a very young team. We have come a long way. A couple of years ago we were at senior level and could hardly field. We have rebuilt now with a young side and I’m so proud of every girl on the squad.
“We have such a committed team. One of the girls is playing county Gaelic, county basketball and county football. We have three girls with the county U16s so we don’t ask too much.”
