Marc Walsh says he wants to get the ‘head down and work hard’ as he looks forward to beginning life at Swansea City.
The Loughanure teenager travels to Swansea this Sunday having been snapped up by the Premier League club.
Walsh, who has just completed his junior certificate at Rosses Community School, played his last game for the Finn Harps Under-17s in Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Athlone Town.
“I’m looking forward to seeing what the future holds,” Walsh said.
“I’ll get pre-season in and get ready for the season. I just need to get the head down and work hard.
“It’s a massive opportunity.”
Walsh has been capped by the Republic of Ireland at Under-15, Under-16 and Under-17 levels.
He was Player of the Tournament while playing for Ireland in Mayo when Swansea invited him for a two-week trial.
Although he had other options on the table, Walsh, who came through the ranks at Gweedore Celtic, plumped for Swansea.
He said: “I had a few other options but Swansea was the best one. There’s a good family feeling over there.”
