Another impressive performance by Luke Barrett’s young team saw Donegal U16s advance to the Buncrana Cup final in Convoy on Saturday.
The narrow 4-11 to 4-04 victory will now see the underage side compete against Derry U16s in a decider next week.
Barrett, whose outfit saw off Cavan, Sligo, Tyrone, and Fermanagh on route to the final, was delighted with his young side but he was adamant that there was much room for improvement.
Speaking to Charlie Collins for Donegal Daily/Donegal Sport Hub, Barrett said: “A lot of good with a lot of bad, I think would be the best way to describe (the game).
“I thought some of our forward play was very good today but some of our defending was very poor and we know that and certainly won’t be good enough next week (in the final).
Discussing the final, Barrett said his side will need to be at their very best to beat what he described as ‘a serious outfit’ in Derry.
“They have a lot of quality players and are a serious outfit,” Barrett added.
“But we have had a look at them and hopefully we can do a bit of preparation work next week (and) I think the boys are looking forward to training.
