Gerard Melaugh says Red Hughs’ ‘character’ saw them book a place in the All-Ireland junior semi-finals.
Next month, Red Hughs will face Sligo and Connacht champions Easkey, with a place in the Croke Park final up for grabs.
The Scottish side led for a brief spell in extra time after initially coming from six points down.
But Red Hughs stumbled over the line.
“We’re loving this run…The main fear was it was going to end,” captain Melaugh says.
Now, Croke Park comes into view as Red Hughs are an hour away from headquarters.
He said: “You can start talking about it now. We’re one game away. One thing about is we won’t die. We’ll keep going to the end. That’s just us. That’s just the way we are. We seem to find a way.
“We didn’t panic. Thankfully we got the goals. That showed the character we have. It didn’t look as if the goal chance would come, but they opened up and they were two calm finishes.”
