RORY GALLAGHER says Killybegs’ young guns want to keep making senior championship progress.
Killybegs overcame Sean MacCumhaills in a Fintra cliffhanger yesterday 2-8 to 1-9 with Hugh McFadden’s goal, which came with a stroke of fortune, a key moment.
“We definitely got the break with the goal, but we showed huge courage and an awful lot of appetite,” Gallagher, who is alongside manager John Cunningham, told Donegal Daily/Donegal Sport Hub.
“We have a lot of young players who wouldn’t have huge championship pedigree, but if we win next week we’re through.
“Every day is a test of character for these young players. We’re building a new group who want to have championship tradition.”
MacCumhaills defeated Killybegs in the 2018 Championship and that was on the minds of the south-west side. Gallagher said: “The boys were hurt from it last year when they ripped us apart.”
