Martin Regan hailed the ‘great warriors’ of Naomh Conaill as they overcame Glenswilly to reach the club’s eighth Donegal SFC final.
Glenswilly got close, but never close enough as Naomh Conaill returned to a third final in four years.
“After losing the final last year, the big one was to see if we could get back and make amends,” Regan said.
“We’re delighted with the result.
“They’re great warriors, those boys. They hung in there. They just keep coming back and they never die.”
Naomh Conaill emerged from a ‘Group of Death’ that included derby rivals Dungloe, plus two heavyweights in St Eunan’s and Gaoth Dobhair. Paired with champions Kilcar in the quarter-finals, they were drawn with Glenswilly for tonight’s semi.
The road to here has certainly been paved with imposing hurdles.
Regan said: “The last few weeks have been tough, really tough, on the bodies and minds. It’s been non-stop.”
