James Carroll won a Championship with Gaoth Dobhair in 2006, but hasn’t got back to the dizzy heights since.
Carroll hit five points as Gaoth Dobhair defeated reigning champions Glenswilly 1-7 to 0-5 in Magheragallon to move into the quarter-finals for the first time in five years.
“We still have to knuckle down and work hard next week,” Carroll said.
“We’re confident in our own ability. We had enough on the day, luckily enough.
“We knew what Glenswilly would bring and we knew what we had to do to nullify Michael Murphy. We knew scores would be tight to get. We could have tacked on a few more points.”
