NIAMH FRIEL always believed that the good times would roll again for Termon.
Five years on from their All-Ireland triumph, Termon are back, with a new-look team, in an Ulster final.
Friel is one of those who remain from the glory years and the half-back insists that she knew that they weren’t done.
“I kind of thought we’d come back again,” Friel (pictured by Frank McGettigan) told Donegal Daily/Donegal Sport Hub.
“I didn’t think it was all done and dusted.
“When you have someone like Geraldine (McLaughlin) and then Emer (Gallagher), Nicole (McLaughlin), they’re not that old and are very good footballers. I always thought that if we got ourselves together again that we could push on – and here we are!”
Here they are, indeed, with Donaghmoyne – their old foes – between them and the provincial prize once again as they head for Sunday’s final at Killyclogher.
Termon’s young guns are asking the hard questions of the old guard,
Friel said: “You’re pushing all the time to keep your place so it looks good for the future. It took some time, but we’ve got there and we’re in a good place.”
