TERMON MATCH winner Geraldine McLaughlin hailed her never-say-die team after they reached the Ulster senior final.
Five years after Termon were last Ulster queens, the sharp shooting McLaughlin hit 1-8 this afternoon as Termon prised past St Macartans 1-9 to 2-5 at the Burn Road.
Termon will face their old foes, Donaghmoyne, in the final in two weeks’ time.
“We actually haven’t even thought about this,” McLaughlin told Donegal Daily/Donegal Sport Hub.
“A lot of us have holidays booked for that weekend. We never thought about it at all. We probably didn’t believe in ourselves that we could get to an Ulster final.”
Termon went deep into the reservoir when the game was in the melting pot with a sturdy defensive display keeping St Macartans to just one point from the sixth minute of the second half.
McLaughlin said: “It was a very tight game, but that’s what we expected. We came in as underdogs. It’s class. We knew we had to fight for it. The girls just dug deep. Every point we got, we had to work for it. It’s great to get the win.”
