Despite taking last season’s Four Lanterns Ulster Senior League title race to a play-off, Eamonn McConigley fears that his Letterkenny Rovers remain a long way off champions Cockhill Celtic.
Rovers forced a play-off last season following a late surge, but were beaten 2-0 in the play-off at Dry Arch Park.
Rovers have added the likes of Jonny Bonner, Matty Harkin and BJ Banda to their ranks, but McConigley believes that Cockhill are still out in front.
“We’re very far behind,” McConigley says ahead of their opening game of the new season, away to Fanad United, on Sunday.
‘We had a late season and we’ve had a bit of a hangover from it. Hopefully we can catch up on things.
“It’ll take us a little while. Between works commitments and work, we’ve been unable to get much of a pre-season.”
