DECLAN Bonner can sense a hunger in his Donegal squad to right the wrongs of 2020.
Donegal were shocked by Cavan in last year’s provincial final, when their three-in-a-row bid was quashed.
“It’s been a long time since November and it’s been a long time away from it, but they’re ready for the challenge ahead,” Bonner told Donegal Daily/Donegal Sport Hub this evening.
“It’s going to be a long road, but it’ll be great to get back playing.
“It won’t be easy. Down have been making good progress under Paddy Tally and they were unfortunate to lose to Cavan in the semi-final last year.”
Donegal will face all Ulster opposition – Tyrone, Armagh and Monaghan – in their Allianz League group before heading for the Championship.
Bonner said: “The fact that it’s in such a condensed period, with League running into Championship….it will be a tough campaign with a lot of challenges.
“We have 30 played in the squad, but this will test the squad. We have to get all the players up to speed and that’s the challenge for us.
“It’s different form other years when you haas a long break after matches, but it’s the same for every team.”
