Dara Patton described as ‘hard to take’ Rathmullan Celtic’s penalty shoot-out loss to Inishvilla in the FAI Junior Cup.
The Cork visitors won 3-1 on penalties after a scoreless draw at Flagpole Park that left Patton with a nagging ‘what if?’ afterwards.
“We missed a number of chances,” he said.
“Once they had the man sent off, we took over.
“I’m still wondering how Eamonn Sheridan’s header stayed out – it was a fantastic save. If you were to handpick someone you’d want in that position, it would be Eamonn.
“It was an entertaining nil-nil and we just came out on the wrong side of it. It’s hard to take.”
Rathmullan’s performance belied their eighth-place standing in the Donegal League Premier Division, where they have won just once in six League outings.
Patton added: “We never doubted the quality we’ve had. At times it’s hard to take it out of them.”
