Milford manager Danny O’Donnell gave his players a simple choice before last night’s relegation four-pointer with Sean MacCumhaills: Fight or flight.
Milford hit a stirring second-half to win 5-8 to 1-12, with Cathal McGettigan scoring 3-5 for the Moyle men.
“A massive two points,” O’Donnell told Donegal Daily/Donegal Sport Hub.
“I’m delighted that they stood up. We said before the game it was fight or flight – and they fought.
“These are the games that we have to perform in – and that should give us massive confidence.”
MacCumhaills led 1-4 to 1-2, but Milford overcame the sending off of Luke Barrett eight minutes into the second half to claim a valuable win.
O’Donnell said: “That was a proper game. There was a lot at stake. The lads deserve all the praise, going down to 14 men and playing against the breeze, the character and fitness we showed. We had a clinical side to our game tonight that wasn’t there against Cloughaneely.”
