A QUICK glance at the entry list is enough to prove Damien McGettigan’s notion that the battle for honours in the National Rally this weekend will be as intense as ever.
The defending champions, Ian Barrett and Pail McGee, lead the way for the class 14’s in the Darrian, but the competition is fierce.
The likes of Kevin Eves, Damian Tourish, Kevin Gallagher, Declan Gallagher, Damien Gallagher and Brian Brogan are among the Donegal drivers who will be expected to be at the head of the battle
“There are 15 men who could come in,” says McGettigan, who will again be calling the notes for Brogan.
“No-one knows what way it’ll end up and I wouldn’t like to be a betting men
“Down the country all year, any man is just looking to come and chat about the big one. That’s all they chat about all year.
“Reliability is the big one. To get three days with no trouble, that’s what makes it.”
McGettigan notes that there are 27 cars in class 14 and notes: “The first two-litre car is down around 70, which was never heard of in Donegal before.”
