Christy Toye knows St Michael’s golden generation might have won a Championship – but the former Donegal star is hopeful for the future of the Creeslough-Dunfanaghy side.
A county final in 2011, which they lost to Glenswilly, and a handful of semi-final appearances, have been and gone for St Michael’s in the last decade.
The Bridge men will contest the knockout phase of this year’s Championship and remain something of a puzzle as the business end of things draw near.
“We’ve managed to stay competitive,” Toye said after yesterday’s win over Four Masters.
“Our generation is moving to the other side of careers.
“Last year, the young fellas coming through weren’t as experienced. That team we had, people say it should have won a Championship, but this year it’s been very positive how the young fellas have stepped up and they’re physically stronger this year. “
