The 2019 North West 10k was officially launched last night.
The 2019 version, the 23rd running of a race first held in 1997, will take place on Sunday, May 5, at 2pm.
Over the years, some 33 charities have benefited from €775,000 raised from the North West 10k and this year organisers are aiming for 1,500-2,000 participants.
“We started in 1997 and it’s going from strength-to-strength,” said North West 10k Chairperson Neil Martin.
“We had numbers up at almost 2,000 but last year we were down to 1,550. It’s an impressive number for a Sunday afternoon.”
Other speakers at the launch night included Karen McGlinchey from Little Angels, Mary Coyle from Donegal Cancer Flights & Services and Stephen Lafferty from the Donegal branch of Spina Bifida & Hydrocephalus Ireland – the three charities who will benefit from this year’s race.
