Lifford Strabane ACs Adrienne Gallen claimed an excellent bronze medal in the Girls u15 Shot Putt at the Scottish Juvenile Indoor Championships in Glasgow today.
Adrienne’s second round putt of 10.56 metres was the best of her series and gave her 3rd place on the podium behind Meghan Porterfield of Glasgow (11.32m) and Paige Stevens of Falkirk (11.01m).
Lifford Strabane ACs Una O’Donnell also had a big performance in the same event finishing in 5th position with a putt of 9.24m.
Lifford Strabane ACs Harriet McCrossan had high hopes of medalling in the Girls u15 60m sprint at the Glasgow arena.

McCrossan had come through the first round of heats as the third fastest of the 55 competitors and again came through the semi-finals as third fastest overall.
Running 8.29 seconds in the final, the young Lifford Strabane AC starlet was just run out of the medals finishing in 7th place with just 0.09 seconds separating 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th placed athletes.
Earlier in the weekend, Lifford Strabane AC’s Caoimhe Gallen was unlucky not to make the podium when finishing in 4th position in the u13 Girls Shot Putt, a first Scottish Indoor medal just out of reach on this occasion.
Last weekend saw the indoor season well and truly light up with 3 Lifford Strabane AC athletes excelling at the National u23 Indoor Championships in Athlone.
A tremendous performance from Lifford Strabane AC’s Gareth Crawford saw him win the bronze medal, taking 3rd place in the Men’s Long Jump.
Crawford’s leap of 6.56m tied him for 2nd position but the current national junior javelin champion had to settle for 3rd place by virtue of countback.
Meanwhile Lifford Strabane AC’s Alan McGinley had an outstanding run in the Men’s 1500m at the same championships to take a brilliant 4th place in a new personal best time of 3:59 just ousted out of the bronze medal position by the narrowest of margins.
Lifford Strabane AC’s Darryl Crawford put in a great series of throws to take 4th place in the Men’s u23 Weight for Distance, very unlucky to miss out on a podium position.
A national indoor bronze medal and two fourth place finishes at national u23 level last weekend and a Scottish indoor bronze medal and fourth and fifth place finishes this weekend in Glasgow are very positive indicators of another successful track and field season ahead for the border club.
